CityWest CEO announces his departure from company

Jan 17, 2020

Chris Marett, the CEO of CityWest, has given notice to the Board that he will be stepping down in his role at the company. His last day on the job will be March 6, 2020.

“We’re sad to see our CEO go,” said Dr. Bob Long, Chair of the CityWest Board, “he has been a tremendous asset for the community and the company, increasing its financial viability, changing its culture, and making it a better place to work for everyone. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors and hope he remembers his time as the CEO of CityWest fondly.”

Marett said, “it was a very difficult decision to make. I love the job, and the people here are like an extended family for me. But it is time for me to be closer to my family in Vancouver, and for someone else to drive this company forward to even better success.”

During his tenure, Marett was instrumental in making fibre-to-the-home expansion possible in northern BC, including the Bulkley Valley, as well as parts of Terrace and Kitimat. He was also responsible for finding the financial means to expand fibre-to-the-home services into Prince Rupert. As CEO, Marett also improved the culture at CityWest, aligning the attitude of its employees with the corporate values of the company.

“One of the things I am most proud of is how we’ve made thousands of customers’ lives better through the services we provide to them,” said Marett.

Marett’s successor will be chosen by the Board of CityWest, and there will be a public announcement once the new CEO is chosen.
